On 5 and 6 September 2026, Valencia will host one of the year’s most spectacular sporting events<\/strong>. SailGP Valencia 2026 arrives in the city for the first time, bringing an action-packed weekend on the Mediterranean featuring high-speed racing, an international atmosphere and the unique setting of La Marina de Val\u00e8ncia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As well as enjoying top-level competition, the event provides the perfect excuse to discover Valencia<\/a> at one of the best times of the year. September still brings warm weather, the beaches remain ideal for swimming, and the city offers an irresistible combination of gastronomy, culture and leisure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is SailGP?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SailGP<\/a> is an annual international sailing championship<\/strong> founded in 2018 by Russell Coutts and Larry Ellison with the aim of revolutionising the sport. The competition brings together national teams<\/strong> from countries including Spain, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Great Britain, France, Italy, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden, competing across a calendar of thirteen international events<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All teams race identical F50 foiling catamarans<\/strong>, state-of-the-art boats capable of exceeding 100 km\/h and reaching speeds of up to four times the wind speed. By competing in identical boats, the championship places the emphasis on strategy, coordination and the skill of each crew, resulting in exceptionally close and spectacular races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 SailGP season will visit a number of international cities<\/strong>, including Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, New York, Dubai and Geneva, before arriving in Valencia, which will host the tenth event of the series and the only Spanish venue of the championship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SailGP Spain arrives in Valencia for the first time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The arrival of the SailGP Spain Grand Prix marks another milestone for Valencia, a city with a long-standing sailing tradition that has already hosted prestigious competitions <\/strong>such as the America’s Cup and the 52 Super Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 5 and 6 September, the SailGP racecourse off La Marina de Val\u00e8ncia will provide exceptional conditions for both the teams and spectators. The proximity of the boats to the shoreline will allow fans to follow the manoeuvres from just a short distance away, making every race an immersive experience that is hard to find in any other sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Valencia has been selected as an official host venue for the championship for the next three years<\/strong>, recognising the quality of its infrastructure, its organisational expertise and the outstanding sailing conditions offered by the Mediterranean coastline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los Gallos will be aiming for victory on home waters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the biggest attractions of SailGP Valencia will be the presence of the Spanish team, Los Gallos, who will compete in front of their home supporters at this new venue for the first time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crew is led by Olympic champions Diego Bot\u00edn and Florian Trittel<\/strong>, alongside Joel Rodr\u00edguez, Joan Cardona, Nicole van der Velden and Bernardo Freitas. They are one of the youngest and most competitive teams on the circuit, with experience challenging for the championship title and regularly competing against the world’s best national teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watching the Spanish team race in front of the Valencia crowd will add an extra emotional dimension to a weekend that promises thrills <\/strong>from the opening race to the final one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
