December Long Weekend in Valencia 2023: Plans and Accommodation

december long weekend valencia 2023

In the blink of an eye we are entering the final stretch of the year and with it comes the long-awaited long weekend in December. It is also known as the Puente de la Constitución (Constitution Bank Holiday) because it is celebrated on 6 December, the Day of the Spanish Constitution, and on 8 December, the Day of the Immaculate Conception. During this period, the Christmas spirit has already taken hold of all of us. For weeks we have been seeing the Christmas lights in the streets and shops, thinking about this year's presents and the Christmas markets filling the streets and squares.

Valencia welcomes these festivities and events with a lot of charm and becomes a magical city. The capital of Turia is always a good plan for various reasons: its Mediterranean climate allows you to stroll through its green spaces practically all year round, it is a tasteful and degustable city, and offers the most fun leisure plans for everyone.

Take the opportunity to get to know the capital of Turia in all its splendor, especially this year when the centenary of the death of the painter Sorolla is celebrated. If you still have any doubts about whether to visit this December, we recommend a list of plans to spend the Constitution Bridge in December in Valencia. Take note!

Earlier we told you about the Sorolla Year that will be celebrated in Valencia in 2023. During the month of December you can find various exhibitions related to his work in different parts of the city.

But that's not all, Valencia and its architecture are home to a wide variety of museums: the spectacular Fine Arts Museum, the well-known Science Museum, the traditional Fallas Museum, the IVAM, MuVIM, the Bancaja Foundation, the National Ceramics Museum and many more!

This December long weekend enjoy fantastic routes through Valencia

Valencia has been named European Green Capital 2024 for its commitment to the environment and sustainability. The truth is that the city surprises in its urban area and surroundings with large green spaces and well-kept botanical gardens. The Turia Garden is the ultimate representative of our commitment to caring for the planet. It has nine kilometers of gardens surrounding the city where you can stroll, cycle, disconnect or spend the day.

But that's not all, the city is very close to spectacular natural enclaves where you can spend a pleasant day in the countryside. We can take some hiking routes in some of the most charming villages near Valencia to spend the day. What are you waiting for to discover them?

Endless gastronomic offers

This is nothing new, we love to highlight the city's gastronomic offerings for their variety and originality. From gastronomic markets such as the Imprenta de San Vicente or the new Mercader in Cabanyal, to the most exclusive Michelin-starred restaurants and the traditional tapas bars.

Plans with children for the December long weekend in Valencia

The December long weekend is a good time to enjoy Valencia with the whole family. The city is full of Christmas lights and, being close to the Mediterranean, you won't have many rainy or cold days. This modern city offers a wide variety of plans for the whole family, the youngest members of the family will be able to enjoy the city with their own eyes while having fun. Take note of the different fun plans that Valencia has to offer for children. We assure you that everyone will enjoy themselves here, young and old alike.

  • Ice skating: Taking advantage of this time of year, you have the option of visiting the ice rink at the Town Hall and skating in one of the most charming corners of Valencia. Another option is to skate on the ice rink at the Nuevo Centro shopping center, a fun plan where you can finish off your Christmas shopping and have dinner in one of the restaurants.
  • Christmas Amusement Fair: As every year, in the harbor area parents and children can enjoy thrilling rides to push their adrenaline to the limit, tombolas, fairground stalls with different games and stalls with traditional food and sweets.
  • Indoor playgrounds: Among the most exciting new leisure activities in the city is the first Fun Jump trampoline park for all kinds of audiences. Also, at this time of the year when it starts to cool down in the evening, going to playgrounds, bowling alleys, laser games, and escape rooms are, without a doubt, great plans to spend the long weekend in Valencia with children.
  • Kart Circuits: Without a doubt, this is one of the activities that both children and adults enjoy. During this long weekend, we suggest you opt for this experience.
  • Visit the City of Arts and Sciences: Spend a super entertaining morning in this fascinating place. For lovers of underwater life, visit the Oceanográfico and one of the latest projections on the large concave screen of the Hesmiférico or learn at the Science Museum. Finally, come to Caixaforum, a place where you can enjoy exhibitions and family events where your children will learn while having fun.
  • Boat ride through the Albufera: This plan is one of our favorites, although you can enjoy it alone, with friends or as a couple, experiencing it as a family is unbeatable.
