Sep 24, 2026 | Plans and activities

On Sunday 25 October 2026, Valencia will once again become a major gathering point for runners from around the world as it hosts the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Half Marathon. With a certified 21.0975-kilometre course, the race will bring together runners from across the globe for one of the city’s most prominent events on the sporting calendar.

Considered one of the fastest half marathons in the world, the Valencia Half Marathon combines a course designed to favour fast times with the atmosphere of a city that embraces running in a very special way throughout the weekend.

Whether you are taking part, supporting a runner or simply want to soak up the atmosphere surrounding the race, we tell you everything you need to know to organise your stay in Valencia.

Valencia Half Marathon 2026: date, location and key information

The Valencia Half Marathon will mark its 35th edition on Sunday 25 October 2026. The race is organised by S.D. Correcaminos, with the institutional support of Valencia City Council, and has a maximum of 25,000 race places available to the public.

The start and finish will be located on Avinguda dels Tarongers, in the area of the faculties of the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Universitat de València.

The race will get underway at 08:25, with participants setting off in different waves according to their accredited times. The final wave is scheduled to start at 09:27, and the official maximum time to complete the 21.0975-kilometre course is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The Valencia Half Marathon also holds the World Athletics Gold Label, is included in its international calendar, and forms part of both the SuperHalfs circuit and the Plátano de Canarias National Running Circuit.

A course designed for fast running

One of the Valencia Half Marathon’s main attractions is its course. The Valencia 21K is designed to favour fast paces and has been the setting for some of the best times ever recorded over the distance.

The urban, tarmac and officially certified course will once again start and finish on Avinguda dels Tarongers. The organisers also provide an interactive course map, where participants can view the route and locate different practical features of the race, such as race pens, car parks, toilets, refreshment stations and entertainment areas.

Valencia also has its place in the recent history of the half marathon. In 2021, Ethiopian athlete Letesenbet Gidey set the women’s world record for the distance in the city, with a time of 1:02:52. The Valencia race has also been the setting for some of the best men’s and women’s times ever recorded over the 21.0975-kilometre distance.

Registration for the 2026 Valencia Half Marathon

For the 2026 edition, the organisers have introduced a new registration system that combines a preferential period for runners from the previous edition with a ballot for the remaining places available.

The aim is to facilitate access to a race that attracts high demand every year. The maximum number of places set for this edition is 25,000.

Registration is exclusively available through the race’s official platform or via the official tour operators included in the authorised travel packages. The organisers advise against purchasing race places through third-party platforms. However, registration for this edition is now closed, as the process was managed through this same ballot system between October and November 2025.

Expo 21K Feria Valencia: where to collect your race number

Before the race, all participants must visit the Expo 21K Feria Valencia, the official event venue where they can collect their race number, timing chip, race bag and the identification wristband required to access the start area.

The Expo will take place on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October, from 09:00 to 21:00, at Feria Valencia. Alongside race number collection, the venue will feature exhibitors, running-related brands, talks and a range of activities linked to the race.

It is important to bear in mind that race numbers will not be handed out on Sunday 25 October, so participants will need to plan their visit to the Expo in advance.

How to get to Feria Valencia

Feria Valencia can be reached by public transport in several ways. These include Metrovalencia Line 2 to Carolines/Fira, Tram Line 4 once it is operational, and EMT bus route 62.

If you are travelling from another city, you can also explore the different transport options for getting to Valencia and plan your travel arrangements in advance for the race weekend.

An international race

The Valencia Half Marathon is part of SuperHalfs, an alliance bringing together six major international half marathons: Valencia, Lisbon, Prague, Copenhagen, Cardiff and Berlin.

The circuit aims to promote running, boost sports tourism and raise greater environmental awareness.

The race is also part of the Plátano de Canarias National Running Circuit, alongside other major Spanish races, further strengthening its presence on the national calendar.

Músicos por la Salud, the charity partner of the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Half Marathon

The Valencia Half Marathon also has a charitable dimension. In 2026, the race’s charity partner will be Músicos por la Salud, an NGO that uses music to support people in particularly vulnerable situations, especially in hospitals and social and healthcare centres.

Since 2015, the organisation has been holding micro-concerts where people can choose their favourite songs, using music as a tool to foster connection, empathy and wellbeing.

Its work has already reached more than 500,000 people through more than 40,000 micro-concerts.

Runners can make a charitable contribution during the registration process, and anyone can support the organisation through the donation platform provided by the organisers.

Valencia, much more than 21 kilometres

Travelling to Valencia to take part in a race is also a great opportunity to discover the city.

If you are planning your Valencia 2026 race calendar, the Half Marathon is one of the events not to be missed if you want to combine sport and tourism.

Beyond the 21 kilometres, you can make the most of the weekend by exploring the historic city centre, visiting the City of Arts and Sciences or discovering original things to do that you won’t find in the guidebooks

The Half Marathon can therefore be a great excuse to extend your stay and enjoy Valencia beyond the competition.
